Bridport RESERVES 2
STURMINSTER MARSHALL 2
STEVE Crabb was satisfied with a point following this hard-fought contest against Sturminster Marshall at St Mary’s Field.
The Bridport Reserves boss watched his men lead the game twice but was more than happy to share the spoils with the opposition afterwards.
Crabb said: “I was happy with 2-2 because Sturminster probably edged it on the day.
“We got off to a slow start but managed to get ahead after 15 minutes against the run of play.
“Dom McAllister played in Gary Bulman and when his shot was parried by the keeper there was Carl Bulman to fire home the rebound.
“We then enjoyed our best spell but could not get the second and they ended up equalising through their number 10 who was very quick and gave Jamie Fry no chance with a fine finish.
“One apiece was a fair reflection at half-time but in the second they virtually bossed it without really creating much.
“Once again we went in front against the run of play through a penalty won by Tristan Gale and converted by Ben Clarke, and after that it looked like that might be enough.
“However, they then made it 2-2 with another good goal with 10 minutes to go and that is how it ended.
“It was not one of our better performances but sometimes you can only play as well as your opponents allow you to.
“Having won nine out of our last 10 before that in both league and cup, the boys were obviously disappointed afterwards but a point was not bad really as Sturminster played very well.”
The Bees, who will entertain Merley Cobham Sports this Saturday, sit ninth in the Magna Dorset Premier League, three points adrift of the top seven.
Lee Thomas and Tim Littler got the goals for Sturminster.
Bees: Fry, Stordy, Fellows, Day (A Clarke 55), G Bulman, Hill, McAllister, C Bulman, B Clarke, Gale, Scovell. Subs not used: Cummings, Lock.
